JUDGING AND RULES
Judging
The stories will be judged in three age categories: 8-11, 12-14 and 15-18. There will be one winner from each age group, 2 runners up plus 3 shortlisted finallists.
Judging panel
The judging panel is: author Anthony Horowitz, Take a Break editor John Dale, Fiction Feast editor Margaret Nicholls, Take a Break and Fiction Feast fiction editor Norah McGrath.
Winners
Winners and parents/guardians will be notified by post on headed Take a Break notepaper by 15 October 2010 and the results published. Winners must agree to the publication of their names and photos. The judges’ decision is final and no correspondence can be entered into. If you have not heard from us by 15 October 2010, unfortunately your story has not been chosen.
Rules
Stories must be between 500 and 1000 words long. Stories must be your own idea and work and previously unpublished, including on a website. If we publish your story we reserve the right to edit it for length and style. H Bauer Publishing will own the copyright of any stories published. We regret that stories will not be returned, so please keep a copy.
Individual entries from under 12s must have their parent or guardian’s consent clearly marked. We will verify the age and identity of winners before allocating prizes. At this point we will also ask winners for their school/college details. Postal entries from schools must be accompanied by a schools entry form.
This competition is open to residents of the UK (including the Channel Islands), Eire or BFPOs, aged 8 to 18, except employees of H Bauer Publishing and their families, its printers and anyone connected with the competition.
No responsibility can be accepted for entries that are delayed, damaged, mislaid or wrongly delivered.
